Ludwig van Beethoven wrote a lot of music for orchestra, but what is mostly unknown: also an opera. Only one. It is named "Fidelio". At the Staatsoper Berlin, children have played it in a workshop.
Bosnian director Jasmila Zbanic won the Golden Bear of the Berlinale in 2006. And since her fellow-countryman Danis Tanovic won the Oscar for the Best Foreign Feature "No Man's Land" in 2001, it is known that in the countries of Ex-Jugoslavia, many talents and unusual films can be spotted.
Boosting such talents is one of the main tasks the Sarajevo Film Festival has made its business. Formed in 1995 as a secret "war cinema" in a sieged city, it is now the most im portant festival in South-Eastern Europe. With an emphasis on "region in focus", the festival funds productions from the countries around Bosnia and Hercegovina. And it attracts more and more people. For the 13th time this week.
